At the virtual Annual Council Meeting, held on Tuesday 4 May, Councillor Michelle Keutenius was elected for a second term as The Worshipful Town Mayor of Folkestone for the year 2021-22 and her husband, Mr Neil Keutenius, was appointed as the Consort of Folkestone.

Reverend Bob Weldon, of the Trinity Benefice Ministry Team, was named as the Mayor’s Chaplain for the year.

The Town Mayor announced that her nominated charities for the year will again be Kent Air Ambulance, Home Start Shepway and Folkestone Rainbow Centre.

Councillor Keutenius commented "I couldn't be more delighted to be given a second chance at representing my home-town, as Mayor of Folkestone.

Like so many, the last year was pretty much on hold. Opportunities to meet with community groups and charities, civic duties and public engagements were limited and, in many cases, cancelled all together.  I hope with the restrictions easing and the continued outstanding effort of the vaccination rollout will allow Folkestone, it's residents, community and myself the chance to flourish.”

Councillor Nicola Keen was elected as Deputy Town Mayor for a second term and thanked Councillors for the nomination.
